Michele enters the retreat space in 2021 with a sincere desire to contribute to others' peace and happiness. Her primary motivation is to provide people with tools they need to easily traverse through the doors of life's infinite opportunities. It is an honor and a privilege for her to be a part of others' journeys, and it is not an opportunity she takes lightly. With two advanced degree programs with significant focus on teaching, 15 years of formal teaching experience, and 15 years of quarterly evaluations from every student, she has become an exceptional teacher. She has led all sorts of groups in all sorts of educational experiences, and taught university courses in interpersonal communication, small group communication, and leadership. Michele brought wellness and happiness science together in her book Whacked Out which forms the basis for Paradise Found Happiness Retreats. With these retreats, Michele wants to help people live much easier and happier lives. Minor tweaks to our thinking and behavior can make a world of difference to life ease and happiness, and Michele wants to share this knowledge. Nothing makes her happier than seeing a learner’s face illuminated with the joy of knowledge gained and helping people grow into better versions of themselves. Learning is experiential, through carefully selected activities, as well as intellectual, through informal workshops focusing on happiness science. At the end, retreatants will leave not only transformed from 8 days of wellness and happiness-focused living, but also with an armload of new insights to make their everyday lives much easier, happier, and richer. Relationships will all improve, anxiety will lessen, and well-being will increase on all fronts after a Paradise Found Happiness Retreat. Because there are so many things we can do to improve our lives, the happiness discussions will be different in every retreat, making each one unique. The more Paradise Found Happiness Retreats you attend, the happier and easier your life can be!

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world

Plum Village in Southwest France -- I loved the peace and tranquility of the vibe there, as well as the plum orchards. It was wonderful to see spring bloom in the French countryside.

What's your personal definition of what it means to thrive?

To thrive is to live in happiness, joy, and wellness!

Who do you look up to ? Who has helped you the most along your teacher / retreat leader journey?

My father Mick Poff, a career middle school teacher, had a profound impact on my teaching motivation and provided much guidance with challenging student situations. Susan Conrad, PhD, my MA thesis advisor, helped me gain motivation and confidence to reach higher in my teaching endeavors. Ken Weber, Esq, my law teacher/tutor, helped me gain tremendous compassion for my students. David Domke, Ph.D., my Ph.D. dissertation advisor, and award-winning teacher, showed me how to have more fun while working with serious or sensitive material.
