Our unexpected beginning
It started with a surfboard, a few big dreams, and a group of founders craving clarity. The four of us came together to plan something different—an entrepreneur surf retreat. We each invited a few like-minded friends: business owners, creatives, people leading with heart. The idea was simple: set goals individually, grow collectively—in a space that truly inspired us.
The spark
The moment everything clicked
Before we caught any waves, we hit a wall finding our venue. Multiple spreadsheets. Scattered booking tools. Endless emails with hotels. No platform truly built for company retreats.We needed fast Wi-Fi, an inspiring group work space, nature, and space to connect—but booking it all? Total chaos.
What started as one retreat turned into a mission. We didn't just want to solve a planning problem—we wanted to spark something deeper.
Meet our leadership team
A second-time founder, Cory’s passion for retreats is grounded in more than a decade of experience leading them, where he saw firsthand how intentional retreats can align teams, build deep connection, and recharge company culture. When he’s not building the future of team experiences, Cory is chasing adventure—surfing, kite boarding, mountain biking, and snowboarding around the world.
Mike is a seasoned entrepreneur with 20+ years building and scaling tech ventures. As co-founder of RetreatsAndVenues and former CEO of TeamPages (acquired by Active Network), he’s led and advised dozens of early-stage companies through growth, product development, and operational scale. His leadership focuses on building high-performing teams, forging strategic partnerships, and driving sustained expansion.

Matt brings over a decade of entrepreneurial experience in the technology, hospitality, and travel sectors. He’s passionate about bringing people together in inspiring destinations and helping to create meaningful experiences, designed for connection, growth, and lifelong learning. He loves surfing, experiencing new places, and is always trying to get just a little better every day.
Corey brings 15 years of web development experience to RetreatsAndVenues, with a background spanning fintech, real estate, non-profits, and health & wellness. His work is rooted in creating seamless user experiences and building high-performing, tightly aligned engineering teams. He finds energy in collaborative problem-solving and continuous improvement — and outside of work, channels that drive into playing competitive soccer, hiking and camping in the Pacific Northwest, and DJing events around Vancouver.
Mark brings 25+ years of digital leadership to RetreatsAndVenues, where he guides the platform’s growth with precision and purpose. A seasoned founder and technologist, he’s led 1,000+ projects and worked with brands like Starbucks, Sony, Adobe, and Disney. Off-screen, Mark’s a global explorer—having traveled to 57 countries, judged international diving competitions, and earned a 2024 International Photography Award.
Joanna brings over 12 years of hospitality and events experience to RetreatsAndVenues, shaped by a global career spanning LATAM, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her background in planning, sales, and destination marketing gives her a holistic view of what makes a retreat truly memorable. She’s passionate about building real-world connections and bringing people together—and lives that same energy through travel (65+ countries), outdoor adventures, and a deep love of wellness, learning, and culture.
Chelsey brings over a decade of sales and marketing experience in the Latin American market, with a focus on building lasting relationships and five-star customer experiences. Known for her curiosity and creative drive, she excels at streamlining processes, connecting teams, and driving growth through strategic partnerships.
