Some fifty years ago, a New York businessman embarked on a labor of love – creating a stylish and comfortable home in Jamaica that melded the most innovative thinking in contemporary design with the special characteristics of this hillside, ocean-view property. He named it for his wife, Rosa.

Down a short path and some steps from the house more activity is on offer. The lower floor houses the gym, equipped with Freemotion elliptical and treadmill, 2 spinning bikes, weight bench, kettlebells, VTX weights, yoga mats, 50” TV, and shower. If it’s more to your style to put yourself in the hands of a qualified masseuse or beauty technician, just tell the butler and that will be arranged. The upper floor room with outdoor deck doubles as a spa and yoga studio.
Villa Rosa’s living and dining spaces are open concepts. It’s often difficult even to tell where indoors ends and outdoors begins. But the comfortable furniture in the soothing sea and forest colors creates groupings for conversation or play, as well as quiet spots for reading or meditating.
Straddling the open central hall on the second floor, these rooms are mirror images – each with king bed, ensuite with walk-in shower, double vanities and outdoor bathtub on a private balcony around the side, two comfy chairs with ottoman on the sea side of the covered balcony.
At the other end of the building, the Sea View Room boasts the same features as the Forest room but with a larger bathroom and more glamorous flair.
When you arrive at Villa Rosa, shortly after you settle in, unpack, and relax, our amazing staff will meet with you to go over your custom menu and food preferences for the duration of your stay with us. Anything you can imagine is on the menu – all you have to do is request it. Your food will be picked up fresh from the local markets by the kitchen staff.
It’s difficult to name the most exciting aspect about traveling to a tropical paradise like Villa Rosa. The spirit of friendliness and family in the air is certainly a guest favourite. Others say that the luxury of the villa itself is what keeps them coming back. But for many folks, the greatest thing about a Jamaican holiday is, hands down, the food. Jamaica has a long, rich culinary tradition of serving delicious and unique foods. The signature dishes and specialty flavours of the island have awed travellers from far and wide.
Jerk cooking uses a series of spices as a marinade or a paste to season chicken or pork. People also use jerk seasoning on beef, goat, fish, fruit or vegetables. Traditionally the marinade has allspice and scotch bonnet peppers (habanero), and the meat is marinated for hours and slow cooked over pimento wood.
