The town of Volterra and its splendid territory represent one of the most diverse and attraction-rich areas in Tuscany. Its indisputable historical tradition, together with its splendid nature, from the morphology made up of ravines, crags and rolling hills, to the vegetation and fauna, form a truly impressive patrimony. Situated in the heart of Tuscany, about 40 km from the sea and not far from the most important art cities of the region (Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano), Volterra is a must for any tourist. Besides being the ideal place for relaxing holidays in this very suggestive landscape, the town, with its historic centre full of museums and splendid historical buildings, also offers a rich range of notable folkloristic and cultural events. Il Poggiarellone is located along the ancient wine and oil route, in a tranquil position and surrounded by the typical hilly landscape around Volterra. In less than 10 minutes by car you can get to the restaurants, shops and cafés in the town centre, as well as to a tennis club, with a five-a-side football field, and to riding stables, while the Golf Club of Castelfalfi is about half an hour away. For those wishing to use public transport, the bus stop for Volterra, Florence and Pisa is located along the main road.
