With population of 12,000 it is a multicultural town and a centre of cultural activity. It has a great ethnical mix of Garifunas, Latinos, and various groups of Indigenous Maya, Chinese, Vietnamese and Hindu origin people all living peacefully. There is market, numerous small shops, medical clinic, bank, internet cafes, public phones, discotheque and a range of restaurants and hotels. Nearby Livingston there is a waterfall Siete Altares and two white sand Caribbean beaches called Playa Blanca and Playa Cocoli (accessible by boat). Livingston is a great place to visit if you like to go out. It has a couple of lively discos which fill up with locals and tourists on the weekends and there are many colorful fiestas.
Location & how to get here
Our Lodge is located 12 km from Livingston and 30 km from the town of Rio Dulce (El Relleno/Fronteras).
If you are travelling from Guatemala City (closest airport) it is cheaper and easier to gete here through Puerto Barrios and Livingston.
