Yoga Studio
The training room at The French Retreat is in a converted barn. It’s around 100 square meters, with a solid oak floor and a double-height vaulted roof. To the east there are glass doors into the Mediterranean courtyard, to the west there are open fields with stunning sunset views. So if you’re here for yoga, art, self-development, classical or contemporary music, or just some me-time you can be sure of a wonderful space to sit and be in.

La Grange- Ground Floor Bedroom
There are 6 bedrooms in La Grange, the stunning converted barn which also houses the group room.
The bedrooms can accommodate up to 13 people sharing, (although 12 people are usually preferable). The bedrooms are arranged on two floors. Upstairs bedrooms are all twins, each very different in style all with deep oak window seats. Downstairs there currently is one double room, one twin room, and one 'family room', ie a double and a single bed, and all have French doors onto a patio. However, all accommodation is flexible and we will move beds in and out to give you the preferred arrangement.
When these rooms are filled there are also five bedrooms in the main house. There is one double with an en-suite and
four twin rooms sharing 2 bathrooms plus separate toilets, which are shown in the floor plans below.

French Cuisine
Quality food was at the top of our list when we put together the French Retreat. In my experience, it was difficult for me to participate in a retreat, experience intense emotional changes, and have a meal of grilled mushroom for a starter and lentils for a main course. We love food in general, and I've been known to knowingly invest my money in a good meal. But beyond that, I believe we can't do deep emotional work with a rumbling tummy. Food nourishes us on different levels, anchors us, keeps us from wavering and disconnecting. I have always felt a little uncomfortable with spiritual practices that involve deprivation, fearing that this would be a green light for anyone with an eating disorder or a tendency for spiritual bypassing. So we wanted to serve loads of delicious, super nutritious, vitamin and mineral-rich foods that are filling but light on digestion. We grow a lot of our own vegetables and have a local farmers market in Chalais every Monday, as well as a fantastic independent organic grocery store. We are really well served to serve you!

What is the cancellation policy for The French Retreat
Three months before the workshop you decide if you wish it to proceed depending on the number of people you have booked. If you cancel at this point 50% of the deposit is retained. If you wish to cancel after this point the full deposit is retained. We do understand the difficulties involved with filling workshops and if you stay in communication with us we will do our best to be flexible about deposits.
