Tastefully designed and decorated for you to enjoy the serenity of your surroundings, each suite features one or two queen beds, a spacious private bath with shower/bath tub, and your very own terrace and garden with outdoor seating. Hardwood furniture and a locally harvested teak wood ceiling bring the ambiance of the forest into your room.
The sleeping area has a comfy queen-sized bed, and an additional queen bed can be arranged in the living room for additional guests. Ceiling fans, a refrigerator, tea/coffee maker, phone, complementary snacks and TV/DVD player. Choose a movie, free from over 300 DVDs in our collection, and settle into your stay with the comfort of peace and quiet.

International cuisine
At AmaTierra, guests can enjoy some of the freshest foods in all of Costa Rica. Our Cuisine is International, with an emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, some home-grown in our organic gardens. Meals are accented by delicious spices such as fresh turmeric, ginger, basil and lemongrass grown on our permaculture farm.
Guests enjoy family-style meals served on the balcony. Our dishes are either vegetarian or include fresh fish or hormone-free chicken. We do our best to honor individual dietary concerns and we can adapt our menu for vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free diets.

AmaTierra is located along the winding and wonderfully pothole-free Highway 137, 19 kilometers west of Puriscal, on the old road toward Orotina, about an hour’s drive southwest from San José. We can also be accessed from Highway 27, 15 minutes off the Escobal exit.

What is the cancellation policy for Amatierra Retreat & Wellness Center
If you must cancel your reservation, please do so at least 30 days before the date of your arrival. Otherwise, you will be charged 50% of your total for a cancellation 15 – 30 days before the reservation date, and 100% of your total if your reservation is cancelled 14 days or less before the reservation date. Cancellation Policy for Groups and Special Retreat Events: Much planning goes into providing the best possible retreat week. Often we are promoting it with you on our site and on various other websites. If you must cancel your reservation, please do so at least 60 days before the scheduled retreat arrival date. Your deposit is refundable at that time less a $300 service fee. The deposit is not refundable during the 60 days prior to arrival.
What is the deposit policy for Amatierra Retreat & Wellness Center
To secure your room we request one half of the amount of your total reservation. The balance of your bill is due upon arrival at AmaTierra. For honeymoon packages, the final balance is due 30 days before arrival.
