Susannah teaches a rigorous style of Bhakti Vinyasa yoga. She is known for leading beautiful chants, fluid sequencing, her quick wit and humor, and for her ability to weave Yoga Philosophy into class in a way that is both profound and accessible. She helps people find refuge inside their own bodies and believes that as a global community we need to find a way to understand the concept that, as her teacher Stephanie Snyder says, we are different but not separate.

In 2010 Susannah completed her first yoga teacher training and in 2014 she received her Masters in Philosophy and Religion.

When the world is open, Susannah currently leads yoga retreats, workshops and training around the world and she teaches private, public, and corporate classes all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently, Susannah is offering a full schedule of classes, workshops, astrology readings and soul coaching online. Visit her website to see all the exciting offerings!

Retreat Specialties

MY RETREATS DEFINITELY ARE NOT JUST A PHYSICAL YOGA CLASS EACH DAY. EACH RETREAT IS A DEEP INVESTIGATION INTO HOW TO CREATE JOY, CONTENTMENT AND GRATITUDE - TO NAME A FEW. BUT DON'T WORRY! THERE IS ALSO *PLENTY* OF TIME TO RELAX AND EXPLORE.

Teaching Specialties

Students can expect to sweat, laugh and pray. In my classes, students are asked to gently push themselves towards their limit mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I infuse my classes with ancient wisdom directly from the philosophical texts in an engaging and relatable way, I ask you to listen to your own inner voice to hear what is right for you to do or not do, and I've been told that I'm pretty funny ;) And we can't forget the epic playlists! Always fire.

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world

I've hosted two retreats in India - one up north in Rishikesh, and one in Goa in the south - and while I have been to many tropical and incredibly beautiful places, India has a depth and magic to it that allows everyone to really tap into the heart of Yoga. It's of the utmost importance to me to honor the origins of the practice, and to pay homage to the shoulders we stand on.

What's your personal definition of what it means to thrive?

For me, "thriving" means that the all of, or the majority of, what I think, say and do are all in alignment with Truth and with my heart. It means that the work I do feeds me as much as it challenges me leaving space for optimism and joy.

Who do you look up to ? Who has helped you the most along your teacher / retreat leader journey?

Stephanie Snyder, Jennifer Freed, Ram Dass, Krishna Dass, Gurudev, Jai Uttal, Rendy Freedman, Jerry Freedman, Tias Little, Jason Crandell, Nicolai Bachman, Susanna Barkataki.

I do a lot of chanting in my classes and personal practice. This mantra is very old, but I made up a new melody.
