Kristy, a certified yoga therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists, is based in Southern Orange County California and teaches both group yoga classes and Individual therapeutically-oriented yoga sessions guiding people toward balance both on and off the mat. Her background and experience in both exercise science and traditional yoga enable her to design safe and effective yoga programming for all levels of clients.

Kristy, a 35-year veteran of the fitness industry in many roles including yoga therapist, yoga teacher/therapist master trainer, yoga instructor, presenter, retreat facilitator, club management, and personal trainer. Kristy discovered the mindful aspect of yoga brought her more into balance physically, mentally & spiritually. Kristy is passionate about sharing yoga with as many people as possible and whether it is a powerful flow class or gentle therapeutic restorative class, one will find options making it accessible and safe for anybody! Kristy has been leading yoga and meditation retreats since 2013 and especially enjoys international destinations. Her retreats offer community connection through yoga and many other activities including hiking, meditation, SUP yoga were available, aerial and wall yoga at her Greece destination along vinyasa flow for all levels! Retreat Specialties

I strive to create inclusive retreats that are both relaxing and fun along with a little yoga and spiritual education mixed in.

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world?

Aegialis Resort and Spa, Amorgos Greece. I have been returning to this amazing yoga space for the last 5 years. They have so many lovely spaces for yoga and equipment galore. The scenery is so beautiful as we practice overlooking the Aegean Sea in open air shalas!

What's your personal definition of what it means to thrive?

Being in balance physically, mentally and spiritually. Cultivating the abilities of awareness and non-attachment are two important aspects of staying in balance.

Who do you look up to ? Who has helped you the most along your teacher / retreat leader journey?

I credit all of my teachers through the years and consider myself a lifelong learner. I am especially grateful to my colleagues at YogaFit who teach and hold space with me and have become part of my family. My time spent studying in India was life-changing and I am grateful to my teachers there Anand Mehrotra and Sri Jayankumar.

Certifications

I am a certified yoga therapist and director of an IAYT accredited yoga therapy program. I am a YACEP and a registered ERYT500 through the yoga alliance. Any registered RYT instructor can receive CEU credits during the retreat! I also have master's in Health and Fitness management and am certified through the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer and in exercise physiology through the American College of Sports Medicine.
