Hello! My name is Victoria Joy “Thor” Hutson ERYT-500, YACEP, RN, MSN. I love practicing & teaching yoga practice...all of it, not just the asana (poses). I am the founder of the Elegant Outlaw a mobile and virtual yoga studio located in Austin, TX. We offer a unique experience of bringing yoga to you straight out of our refurbished & retro ""Boogie Van"" fully-equipped with mats, props, sound system and experienced yoga teachers. My team & I specialize in providing anatomically accessible patterns of movement. We believe that yoga should be functional and support us both physically & mentally as we navigate activities of daily living off of the mat. Yoga is often represented as an intimidating practice but my passion is to reach people beyond those who would “stereotypically enter a modern Western yoga studio on a routine basis”. Whether you are taking my class live in a studio in Austin, TX or virtually via workplace wellness, we desire to bring yoga practice to people in an accessible way! I also teach other teachers to do the same through a podcast, continuing education courses and mentorships.
You don’t have to “be able to touch your toes,” or have a certain shape body or certain type of clothes…
…Come as you are! This practice has transformed my life by allowing me to truly accept myself as I am. Although I have a lot of continual work & growth to do, my unwavering self-acceptance provides me internal peace & power in my true self.
Among a culture that profits from our own self-doubt, I believe LOVING & accepting OURSELves is an outlaw act of rebellion & revolution.
I spent the majority of my adulthood as a registered nurse, originally entering this field because I wanted to help & heal others. I discovered yoga while going though a rigorous nursing school program. Although nursing has been an amazing supplement to this path; I realized that yoga was the correct path for me to help & heal others around me. Nursing has provided me so many skills including a comprehensive understand of the workings of the human body, prevention of injury, modifying poses and much more (which I believe set me apart as a yoga instructor.)
I absolutely love yoga but I also enjoy so many other things as well. I adore my family and friends (my immediate family is composed of my husband and two dogs). Also, I love creating…in fact, I handcraft yoga clothes (available for purchase). Also, I really enjoy riding and working my motorcycle. Anytime I am allowed the chance to create, I take it!
