I'm passionate about sharing the benefits yoga can bring to all minds and all bodies.
This has and continues to be a journey of discovery for me.
Before this I worked as a Project Manager for 20 years for Banks in the UK and overseas, I came to yoga in my late 20s to find a better balance in my life and relief the pressures of work. In 2006, I took an opportunity between jobs to spend time in Rishikesh, India to deepen my understanding of yoga and certified as an RYS Akhanda Hatha Yoga Teacher, with Yogi Vishvketu of Akhanda Yoga. It was here 'Asha Jyoti', my yogic name was given to me which translates to ‘Light of Hope.’ Reiki found me whilst living and travelling in South America and I completed my Reiki I initiation in La Paz, Bolivia in 2000, Reiki II initiations in Chester, England in 2003 and Reiki III & Reiki Master in Llandudno, Wales in 2007. I've been loving and learning NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) coaching and communicating techniques since 2009 and qualified as an INLPTA NLP Practitioner in 2015. I'm also a Holistic Therapist trained in Hopi Ear Candles and Indian Head Massage Treatments.
It was in 2015 I took the bold step to leave Financial Services and dedicate my time to running my own yoga and wellbeing services business. This has quickly grown into sharing classes for a range of people including, adults, kids, people in Care Homes, workshops covering a range of subjects and longer weekend wellbeing retreats - combining yoga with the benefits of hill walking and NLP coaching and more... I actively support fundraising for charities such as SAMH, HD and the Falkirk Carer Centre and am Chair of the Board of Directors for CVS Falkirk & District one of TSIs in Scotland. I'm a published writer of wellbeing related articles in major Yoga magazine and wider press such as the Huffington Post. I co-host an international podcast series Called YEDTalks which is about sharing Yoga Every Day, already listened in more than 70 countries worldwide. It also became a regular radio show on Stirling City Radio during 2017.
In October 2018 I lead a Scottish Parliamentary Reception on Yoga: Mental Health & Wellbeing. Sharing the benefits all forms of yoga can bring to all minds and bodies. Sponsored by Angus MacDonald MSP and with a speech by the Minister for Mental Health, Clare Haughey MSP along with SAMH it was an inspiring evening with a continuing positive ripple effect.
And in my 'spare' time... I aim to rekindle my passion for rock climbing (indoors & out), I'm writing a biography of travel tales spanning my 20s and 30s (it's a long term project), I tap dance and whatever else comes my way to have a go at!
