I'm a simple basic yoga teacher who has been teaching for 20 years in the retreat center called "The Kandy Samadhi Centre "where my husband created it.

I'm a Japanese brought up in Tokyo. I was a Manga comic artist, but I became unhealthy with long desk work and city lifestyle, so I started yoga practice and Iater I became a teacher at Sivananda ashrams in India and Canada.

After I left there, I did yoga therapy course at Vivekananda ashram and traveled Asia to join more yoga and meditation courses till I started teaching in Srilanka and settled down.

Our retreat centre is for the people who want to detox, heal, rewind and tune to nature, and we help that with yoga and Ayurveda treatments. And of course, we are here to help all the teachers to have their retreats.

Many come with physical problems here, so I mainly do therapeutic yoga with the Seitai approach (Japanese chiropractic). I stick to the basics and simple methods because I love simplicity for everything and the simplicity lights me up too.

"Imperfection is perfection" Like Kintsugi ("golden joinery"), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by mending with gold paste and they are so beautiful. I think humans are the same. Imperfection makes us unique and interesting!

Retreat Specialties

I do with a team of our retreat centre so we have various things to offer like Ayurveda doctor's treatment, river and waterfall swim, cooking using our organic vegetables, jewellery making and a trip to temples, hiking and historical places etc... Our rooms are spread around in the 15 acres mountain, so if you like, you can just be silent too with a silent badge.

Teaching Specialties

You can expect me as a simple basic yoga teacher. In our retreat centre, many people come with physical problems. Common body pain comes from stiffness due to the wrong posture and movement habits in our daily life. I also see problems with the flexible or fit people damaging their joints due to the loose ligaments or too much pressure with exercises. If we do some yoga poses without considering our physical situation, we can damage our body badly. So I just stick to the basics, try to let students be aware of disturbing points, tell them to correct the body habits of daily life, and help the problems by simple soft poses using the Japanese Seitai method.

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world

The Kandy Samadhi Centre in Srilanka - I love this place because this is the retreat centre my husband created and where I work as a yoga teacher. He is an antique dealer who loves meditation, art and nature so he created exactly what he loves. Every room is differently designed with full of antiques and art. We enjoy the river swim and jungle walk, meals made with firewood and vegetables from our organic garden and yoga and Ayurveda treatment listening to nature sound. We have a jewellery and statue workshop, so you can make your own designs too. Our staffs are from the traditional Buddhist village and they can take you for a trip to the village temples, waterfall and tea plantations. We welcome all the yoga teachers who wanna have retreats at our place too! Hope to see you all soon hereafter covid problem is gone!"
