My life has been fueled by music, sound healing, sun, sea, silence, meditation and yoga. As a child I was brought up and nurtured by musical masters. My connection to spirituality has been through music, my language of choice is music. I studied classical performing and composition and was eventually signed up as a producer/ artist with a London based record company for my debut album, Sands of Time. The understanding of music therapy, indigenous music, meditation and chanting of ancient languages molded this World Music album.

While in my, twenties, the challenges of life forced me to delve deeper into the healing power of music, how to shift energy through music and how to move into Theta state in order to clear the subconscious mind and heal all aspects of ones being through the power of music. When the power of sacred sound is combined with the discipline of yoga, one has the best chance of living a life to the fullest of one's potential.

I met my life partner, Harprasad in 2006 whose Naad voice took the music to the next level. We toured 20 countries for 8 years and produced 20 albums for healing and personal transformation. While we were on tour in Brazil, we were asked to facilitate two weekend retreats, and out of this, the Sound to Silence retreats were born.

We teach our participants how to use Sound to move into the most blissful states of deep healing and silence, accessing pure soul consciousness. The methods used at the Sound to Silence retreat are based on a scientific understanding of sound and music, allowing participants to deepen their understanding of this powerful medium and to experience the silence and healing born out of Sacred Sound.

Since Brazil in 2013, we have facilitated annual Sound to Silence Retreats in Mozambique. We have had international guests from all over of the world attending our retreats. The retreats include daily swims with dolphins in the warm tropical waters of Mozambique. These excursions are in deep-sea with great respect and appreciation for the natural habitat of the dolphins. This heart-opening and life-changing part of the retreat connects neurons of the brain through fresh and uplifting experiences and emotions.

The combination of paradise, inter-specie communication, sacred sound, sacred chanting, sacred movement, yoga, Raj yoga( open eye meditation) Theta healing, walking meditation and sacred music concerts, the Sound to Silence participants have walked away with life-changing experiences and skills.

Retreat Specialties

We have a unique approach to our retreats. All our material and music is original. When we lead Kundalini Kriya's or chants, it is all original music. When we lead Theta healing sessions, it is all original music. We strive to provide a unique experience through our original material. We cater for all religions and cultures, as we sing in many different ancient languages. There are no barriers, we go beyond all limitations and borders. This is an exciting experience for those who attend, there is so much room for growth, learning and connection. Our retreats are experiential , while there is some theory, we create a healing space for self discovery . Many techniques and disciplines are used during this sacred time together, but in the end it is always about the energy of love, joy and bliss shared.

Teaching Specialties

To create a safe space where the magic can flow......love, light, laughter, fun and lightness of being. Our retreats combine many disciplines, the discipline of meditation, yoga, silence, movement and sound, however the magic never comes form a technique, it comes from the consciousness and energy of those facilitating the retreat. Our focus is maintaining a high vibration as facilitators, making the space ripe for transformation, healing and for magic to unfold.

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world

Sierra Negra, Sao Paulo, Brazil. This particular retreat centre is surrounded by rain forests, the conference venue was on a mountain looking into green lush forests. The shape of the room was octagonal which was interesting. This area has fruits and exotic vegetables that no other place has, it is literally the food bowl of the world. The retreat centre had professional chefs preparing this exotic food which added to the experience of paradise. Salvidor, Bahia retreat centre. This venue was an open shala, overlooking the lush tropical growth of the area. It was walking distance from the warm sea in the north of Brazil. Another venue in paradise. I loved the white, open shala surrounded by lush green. My favourite retreat venue in the world is Bouganville de Sol in Southern Mozambique, Ponta Do Oura. This little African village is to die for. It gives an energy and feeling of aliveness like no other place. Each little cottage is special in with the look and feel of Portugal and Africa blended together and surrounded coconut trees. The dining and conference area is an open shala, with palm trees and green trees surrounding the garden. We have an outside space for yoga and sacred movement in the Om Shanti garden. Another paradise venue.

What's your personal definition of what it means to thrive?

My personal definition of the meaning to " Thrive" is to be in a state of fluidity from the point of view of being open to new experiences, to having a flexible mind and not a rigid mind. In other words, we may follow a certain path with outer restrictions and disciplines, however those limitations are a guideline which can assist us in our journey but they are not the destination. To "thrive" would mean that you have learnt the need for outer discipline but you maintain the inner balance of complete inner freedom with an open mind that remains sponge like and flexible in order to have new experiences without the filters of your biography. To "thrive" in the state I am describing would mean that you feel " in love" with life with the added benefit of outer discipline and self mastery that comes with stability, peace and patience on the one hand, but dynamic, explosive open creativity on the other hand. One has learned to surf these dynamic energies with complete self awareness. To experience "the Magic" in "the moment" and to read the signs of the universe that is the ultimate intelligence trying to communicate with you.

Who do you look up to ? Who has helped you the most along your teacher / retreat leader journey?

Aliya Haeri, (Sufi Master, Psychic and ASK teacher). She gave me confidence along my journey and imparted deep spiritual truths, accepting the shadow self along with the light. With her ability to access the subtle region, she could affirm my own connection to the more subtle realms. Dadi Janki, ( Head of the Brahma Kumaris spiritual university. Through her spiritual power, she imparted Drishti, spiritual vision and Raj Yoga. Open eye meditation and Soul Consciousness has been a foundation stone for my personal development. Glenji Hudson, my beloved 80 year old yoga teacher who has taught me true yoga, and mastery of the body in preparation of deeper spiritual experiences. Monica Cromhout, a lifelong spiritual mentor and friend/ astrologer. Her unconditional love, kindness and mentoring supported me through the most difficult times in my life. She is a living example of what it means to " thrive" In her 70's when she became a Shaman, she never stops growing, experiencing life with an open heart, whether it is through illness or hardship, she never resists what life throws at her. All my abusers and enemies, they have been my greatest teachers, they taught me to become greater and to love more.
