I started practicing yoga because of work-related stress and back pain! I was working in a stressful job and noticed that after sitting at my desk for 3 to 4 hours without moving, my back would start to hurt. So I found a yoga class near my work and started going. I was hooked!
I then started to get really stressed in work which was taking over in my downtime as well and I noticed that during my yoga class my concentration and breathing were so focused and calm I would forget about work and my mind felt peaceful and spacious. The anxious feeling disappeared.
I decided I wanted to learn more about the practice, have it as part of my everyday life and to introduce other people to yoga. I trained to become a teacher and completed my YTT 200hrs in 2016. I have since travelled to Sri Lanka and Bali to further my own trainings, practicing with international teachers such as Paul Toedo and Evy Ferraro. I have recently finished a 200hr Katonah Yoga training with Abbie Galvin and Alex Sharry, and a 30hr Yin Training with Grace Tempany.
I soon realised that while a lot of people knew about yoga and wanted to try it, there was a feeling of fear and intimidation to go to their first class. My goal is to take those fears away. You can expect to be pushed and to have a sense of achievement in my classes, feel calm and relaxed but still have fun and a laugh. At the end of the day, we all need to stretch, strengthen, laugh and bring a bit of zen into our hectic lives.
