Himalayan Yoga Master and founder of Akhanda Yoga, Yogrishi Vishvketu (Yogrishi) is known for his infectious laughter and stories. His holistic approach brings forward ancient wisdom for a modern age. A yogi at heart, he has studied and practiced Yoga for over 40 years and holds a PhD in Yoga Philosophy. For that last 25 years, he has been sharing this unique blend of practical experience and knowledge of wisdom texts at workshops and conferences internationally. Yogrishi has trained thousands of teachers through his Yoga Teacher Trainings at Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh, India, where he lives half of the year. His deepest aim is to inspire people to connect to their true nature, which is joyful, fearless, expansive and playful. He is the author of Yogasana: The Encyclopedia of Yoga Poses and collaborated on the forthcoming Business Casual Yogi.

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world

Anand Prakash Yoga Ashram, Tapovan - Rishikesh India, a dynamic international village of spiritual seekers. Tapovan means forest of the yogis and is considered the gateway to the Himalayas. The Ashram is on a headland above the banks of the Ganga (Ganges River) and is surrounded by mountains on three sides.

When you become comfortable with uncomfortable feelings, this is where growth takes place, and then you can truly begin to thrive.

Who do you look up to ? Who has helped you the most along your teacher / retreat leader journey?

Vishva-ji looks back with immense gratitude for the teacher who knew and guided him so well, Baba Prem Nath, who gave him the name Vishvketu meaning ‘world bridge or world flag’. He is also greatly inspired by his students, their dedication, connections, and respect for the traditions of Yoga.
