"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest their patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease”
Thomas Edison.

Even though this quote is from long ago it has never been more relevant. I have spent 20 years in medicine with a career that has included Western Medicine, a masters in Eastern Medicine and a Doctorate in Integrative Medicine. I have been hosting personalized retreats for almost 15 years where I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of guests experiencing many different stages of illness.

What I have found is there is no magic bullet, no one size fits all and no one pill that will solve all your problems. Most diseases are rooted in unhealthy lifestyle choices and unresolved emotional issues. As a culture, we have not been taught the many ways that we can cultivate thriving health through dietary and lifestyle choices. We do not address emotional issues very well and often times are told to ignore or forget them. My mission is to teach guests how to take the best care of themselves mentally, physically and spiritually.

Retreat Specialties

I offer an integrative medical approach that is custom-designed to meet the needs of each guest. I take a thorough medical intake and create a unique wellness plan for each guest.

Teaching Specialties

As a teacher I am thorough and passionate. I am inspired and excited to share what I have learned over the years and enjoy learning every day from my students and guests. I provide a lot of information and research on the various topics that I teach about and enjoy the open and honest conversations the spring from these presentations. Real learning happens best through experiencing and this is why I encourage people to try many of the modalities and experiences that I teach about.

What are your favorite Retreat Venues around the world

My favorite venue is Eden Retreat Center, Costa Rica. It is my home facility so it has everything I need plus a great ocean and mountain view.

What's your personal definition of what it means to thrive?

For me I know I am thriving when I wake up excited to tackle my day. When I am in a flow state and doing what I love it’s not work, I am running on passion. I love to see the light bulb moments in my guests when they understand new concepts and new ways of looking at life. Sometimes all we need is a new perspective and I am honored to help people to learn to change their minds, open their hearts, learn new boundaries and flourish with self care techniques.

Who do you look up to ? Who has helped you the most along your teacher / retreat leader journey?

I stand on the shoulders of many great professors and guides before me and I honor all of them for the things I have learned along the way. One of my favorite people who has helped and supported me along the way is another fellow retreat leader here in Costa Rica Hali Love, we have been friends, partners and co conspirators for a long time and it has been such an amazing journey.
